Most books about US College Sports Scholarships are written by Americans for Americans: they talk about NCAA Clearinghouse requirements, SAT scores, and 'full-rides' in such simple terms that anyone from outside the US can quickly become confused.
To be recruited, International athletes need to understand the US System. All too often, though, they turn to parents, counselors or coaches who don't know how the US College System works. Using our 250-page Guide, anyone can familiarize themselves with the US college recruiting process, academic requirements, and all the facts needed to guide the high school athlete towards 'Winning a US College Sports Scholarship'.
The Table of Contents links you to a brief description on the contents of each of the 30 Chapters! How the Book is Organized gives an overview of each of the four sections of the book
Read Chapter 26 - How to Market with Confidence (PDF). Marketing is determining what the customer wants and then selling that to them. This chapter emphasizes the need to identify those colleges that best suit the high school athlete, and having researched those programs as thoroughly as possible, to demonstrate in the introductory package that the high school athlete has the skills, abilities, and attitude that the coach is seeking.
At the end of every chapter in 'Winning a US College Sports Scholarship', you will come across 'The Student Athlete's View'. Ciara McCormack shares her personal experiences from her days as a prospective student athlete, an undergraduate soccer player at Yale University, and as a masters student at the University of Connecticut. These topics are addressed specifically to high school athletes, although parents, counselors, and coaches are more than welcome to read them as well. They offer related information to that covered in the main part of the chapter, but present it from a different perspective. Check out the Student Athlete's View from the same Chapter 26 - How to Market with Confidence.
We have also included A Quick Chapter Review at the end of every chapter. These summaries are intended to let you review what you've learned after reading the chapter. We do not mention everything found in the chapter, nor do we go into much detail. However, if you've read a chapter, but can't remember what was covered a few days later, use the Chapter Review to get a quick reminder of the key points covered.
This book is loaded with informative Tables that visually help you understand every aspect of the US College System.
